“Three things differentiate living from the soul versus living from ego only. They are: the ability to sense and learn new ways, the tenacity to ride a rough road, and the patience to deepen love over time.” ~
Clarissa Pinkola Estés
The ability to sense and learn new ways
Our perceived sense of safety in our comfort zone is an illusion of our Ego. Our Ego wants familiarity because new is scary. We can become paralyzed by our ego. Fear of failure and fear of trying new things, fear can make us standstill. But you can step out!
Determination and belief start in the mind and you need both. Open your mind to new possibilities, new opportunities, new paths in life. You got this. Take baby steps, try something new today.
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline”
2 Timothy 1:7
The tenacity to ride a rough road
No one has a perfect life, even if social media is trying to portray that. We all have our ups and downs. We all have our seasons. Seasons of joy, seasons of sorrow, seasons of pain, and the seasons keep changing. (Now I have a song playing in my head) Again, you got this. Keep going, keep moving forward, keep praying, keep trusting, and know that God has you! Baby steps, one step at a time.
“Those of steadfast mind you keep in peace—because they trust in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for in the Lord God you have an everlasting rock.”
Isaiah 26:3-4
Patience to learn deep love over time
Loving ourselves is the first step! When you love yourself, you receive more love in return. It all starts with falling in love with yourself. But where does self-love come from? And how can you build it? What are the best ways to love yourself? Baby steps, let’s start by being kind to yourself, changing your self-talk, and praying and meditating.
“To acquire wisdom is to love oneself; people who cherish understanding will prosper.”
Proverbs 19:8
